On the road again - crossing montana

I left the West entrance to Yellowstone through a town called West Yellowstone, MT. As I was leaving the park I wanted to fill up on gas as well as propane. I had also noticed while in the park, a tire was low on air. As I proceeded to fill it up, I discovered I had a flat of an inner rear tire. I proceeded to call AAA and had some phone problems and was unable to connect. Standing outside in frustration and not knowing what to do, I just kept trying on the phone. Not long after stopping here, a man had walked by and recommended a service station just around the corner that he said did very honest/reliable work. I said I would continue to try AAA and thanked him. Still not having luck on the phone, the same man came back again and asked how it was going. I knew this was a sign and just took the rig over to the repair shop.  It turned out they were the local AAA service center and I would have been led to them eventually anyway. It was a very "Twilight Zone" moment. I entered and Sharon the front desk person in charge immediately got things on the right track. I called AAA from her phone and reported where I was. They immediately called back and approved the repair. I was relieved and noticed I had an instant affinity with Sharon. I offered to take her to lunch. We had the most stimulating conversation about God and life and how we are guided to do what we do and meet who we meet. Most importantly she expressed how she was following her heart and that even though she was not always supported by her father, she knew what she had to do and did it anyway; a truly inspirational woman and I was very moved that we met and had a chance to talk.

My next stop was Bozeman, MT.  Adjacent to the campground there was a public hot springs spa. Beautifully designed building with gym, numerous hot spring pools, a huge steam room, sauna and a heated outside pool. Great facility used by many locals of all ages. I was surprised at how many younger people came to enjoy the place. It was a place of rest and recharging. I did not connect with anyone and actually felt like an outsider there. The following morning I worked out in the gym, enjoyed the facilities again and gone back on the road.

My next stop was Deer Lodge, MT. After seeing a sign for an auto museum on the road I thought I would stop to see some old cars. I love old cars and did not have nearly enough opportunities to see any this summer. A very quiet little town, I parked my rig with car in tow right on the main street. The car museum was part of the Old Montana Prison that offered a self guided tour. I enjoyed the tour with just one other couple. They were tent campers. We laughed and chatted and finished viewing the prison. They left and I went on to tour the auto collection. There was no one there and I just took those beautiful cars in. I was in hog heaven.

Upon leaving the museum and crossing the street, I met a couple who were intrigued with my Electric Lime Saturn and the name of my website on the rig. We chatted in the street for a while and they informed me their fifth wheel trailer was around the corner and they were wondering what to do next. The conversation was going so well with us speaking about God and healing that I suggested we stay at the nearest RV park and go out to dinner. At dinner our conversation continued and I was ecstatic sharing time with them. The food was great and we talked till closing. They treated me to dinner which was just another great surprise. God bless Bob, Claudia and their grandchild and family who are facing an overwhelming healing crisis. I pray all is worked out and a miracle comes easily to their lives.

The following day I toured Grant, Kohrs Ranch. A great example of a working ranch. It is a National Historic landmark and cost millions to restore and preserve, and it shows. The history of the people and the families who owned it was quite interesting and the place is beautiful. Our tour guide was informative and as I filmed much of the inside, he kept pushing me along to keep up with the group. I decided to put on my "historic preservation hat" and explain that I restored historic houses and that opened up a whole new world. His face lit up and we continued our conversation after the tour was over. He gave me some other tips about the house and the restoration. It is amazing how you can open people up when you share something they too have a passion about.

More to come…
